I am coming out of a Canon MX 870. I have always owned Canons and have good success with the product lineup. However, the reviews convinced me I would be upgrading my technology. My wife and I both have our offices out of the house so having a multi function machine is essential. We also have an occasional need to print pictures. The Good: --Printing is fast and the print quality is more than adequate for presenting to clients. --Set up is fairly easy. The software crashed on me twice for my desktop but installed perfectly and easily on both laptops. The wireless set up was a breeze. --The air print worked flawlessly. Very cool feature. --The paper cassettes are big and hold lots of paper! The Bad: --The scanning software/interface is atrocious. There is no way to edit a scan. I'm not talking major edits. I'm talking cropping. No features. In addition, there were a few to many steps to actually scan. --Faxing is EXTREMLY slow. The machine scans each page and then begins to dial the number. The actual transmission was very slow. Contrast that to Canon. The Canon quickly scans and begins to dial immediately. The Epson does not let you scan the next fax until the first one is complete. The Canon--completely the opposite. --There is an "arm" that extends out to capture/collect the paper once printed. It's flimsy and seems like it could break at any moment. Nevermind the fact that it can tip over if there are to many papers in on it. I'm speaking from experience! I only had the machine for 12 days so I can not talk about ink usage. If you don't mind waiting for scans and slow faxing, this printer will do the job. But if you run a small office and need things done quickly, this is not the machine for you. I decided to go back to Canon.
