The Tascam 2488 neo is by far the best portable multi track recorder for the money.
First off as a Hard Rock / Metal player I can record and mix the entire band and not worry about imputs and track space. It contains all the effects and compressors you will ever need, recording quality that rivals most computer based systems. File storage and file transfers are easy. The recorder will take a little getting used to at first as it is somewhat a mix of analoge and digital style recording. If you have a few pieces of out bourd gear you love it's easy to use them by taking atvantage of the 2 added effects sends. we use tube mic pre's on all vocals, bass, kik and snare imputs and the tracks come alive with warmth.
My band has done quality finished masters that have sonic quality as good as many records we have heard. As a full time professonal guitarist I highly recomend this recorder. ROCK ON.
