Great speaker! Really! The sound is very balanced, effortless and transparent. It delivers without shouting, very musical, terrific! You can spend x20 on speakers, you can't get better sound.

This speaker when connected to HK3490 is above anything else on any price range. My most loved CD by Neal Seroka is singing! All instruments are there with most delicate details preserved. The sound comes out of this speaker is undeniably music! From bass to guitar and drums with brushing and cymbals this speaker

I purchased a pair of new JBL L890's about 2 months ago, Upon initial hook up to my Vintage 165w per channel {CONCEPT 16.5) 2 channel receiver I was a bit disappointed, They do not appear to be very efficient as they require a good deal of power to produce a similar volume as other speakers I have had on the system.
I have had Cerwin Vega RE38's which are not considered high end or audiophile but the sound stage the Vega's give is much more full and boomy but the articulation of mids and highs are not as detailed as the JBL L890's.
To be fair the JBL are 8ohm and the Cerwin Vega RE38's are 4ohm, The Concept 16.5 is rated at 165wpc at 8ohm but can produce up to 250wpc at 4ohm.
I currently Have the JBL's connected to a Concept 11.0 which is rated at 110wpc at 8 ohm and after about a month they did seem to be breaking in a bit and becoming more musical, The 16.5 is a very awesome powerhouse but the 11.0 has a more airy and detailed sound, more refined at normal volume levels with the JBL L890's but the Hard hitting Punch of both of the vintage CONCEPT Receivers can Rattle the 8" woofers in the JBL's and overwhelm them, You are not going to get the big sound of the older 12" 3way or 15" 3 or 4 way speakers like the Cerwin's or even the JBL L100's, I have compared Technics 12"3ways and Cerwins 12"and 15". The Yamaha NS-555 6-ohm Towers which I tested actually sounded very comparable to the L890's only much more efficient meaning more volume at the same input power. The Yamaha's were pretty darn good for the money.
I paid 435.00 each for the JBL-L890'S each at Nebraska Furniture Mart on sale March 2011 and feel that would be the Max that I would spend for them, after research before before purchase I found the average selling price was 649.00 each. While I have tested these Speakers with different music from Classical Symphony to Rock like Metallica/Pink Floyd/Scorpions and some blues like Susan Tedeche,SRV,ZZ Top and even some big band and techno dance music all in 2 channel stereo with CD and Vinyl I will be testing them with a Yamaha HTR-5660 surround amp with Blue ray movies such as Avatar and Transformers to see if they are more geared for the cold detailed digital sound as opposed to the warm full sound of analog, I will update this review after that test, I also have a Yamaha RX-797 100wpc 2 channel amp recently purchased from Crutchfield that I will test them with also just to be thorough.
Bottom line depends on what sound you are looking for, I tend to lean towards big sound at pretty loud volumes especially with rock and I want a punch I can feel and crisp highs that are well blended and not fatiguing or shrill and while subs can fill out the bottom register they are not the same as a true woofer pumping out the bass and mid bass directly in the apex of the listening zone. So far the JBL's are good not great,I would not pay More than 400.00 each again for them.

Each satellite employs a powerful 2.75-inch titanium deposit polypropylene cone woofer for amazing bass performance and a 0.75-inch pure titanium hybrid tweeter for warm, rich high frequencies. The center channel utilizes a 3-inch polypropylene woofer and a 0.75-inch dome tweeter for balanced, full-bodied sound playback.

These speakers are great... i got them at Best Buy 50% off. I think for $460 its definately worth the price. but at full price, ($900+) i probably wouldnt go with these considering you have to purchase the subwoofer separately (another $360). in that case i would go with Definitive Technologies ProCinema 600. the sound was just a little better and for $799 u get the 5.1 instead of the 5.0.
But price aside, these are great!

These Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones are a good low cost little brother to the Sony Studio Monitor Series Headphones MDR-XD400 if you don't use headphones almost 24/7 as I do. While the MDR-XD400s are true audiophile quality with an "airy" sound stage, a dynamite full frequency range and excellent dialogue and vocal clarity doing all kinds of music faithfully, these are the same design--almost--with a good sonic range, fairly flat across the spectrum, the same weight (light) and around-the-ear fit, less distinct when video dialogue's concerned, I can recommend the MDR-XD200s for the budget conscious buyer. They're better in my estimation than the Creative Labs Aurvana Live! headphones 4 times more expensive(!!!), and the CL Aurvana "DJ" headphones I tried were sonically the equal to the MDR-XD400s--and possibly more "rich sounding"--but I returned them because of their weight [almost 16 oz (a full pound)]. Audio Techinca makes some good phones as well and at decent prices, so shop around to select what you feel will do the job intended, read the reviews and remember--It NEVER hurts to buy quality!!! Good listening to you!

So far I've been using these headphones for different kind of music: rock, pop, rap, etc.
The sound is good and what I expected for the price.

You can have better coverage of your ears (=better sound isolation), better comfort and better sound quality for twice the price (if you're listening music only on your laptop or computer) but these ones are way better to be carried and go outside (rotating earphones so that they become flat and fit in your bag).

For long listening, I can feel that the headphones press my ears and they become uncomfortable. I should get used too quickly.

I really like the white design, they seems solid and not cheap at all.

Also, nobody mentionned it, a (very) short limited warrantly of 90 days is provided.

I am pretty happy of these headphones :) Definitely a good deal!

These are good, they just sound flatter/less dynamic then my J3's do. Combine with the J3's come with a case and thicker cord, ten dollars more in price, and this is actually an expensive "down grade" for someone. I tested using an iPod touch, flat mix, equal volume. The J3's just sounded better and were also louder with more bass. Equally sized ear canal inserts were used. One positive is the J5 seems to stay in my ears better then the J3 when I exercise. I'll keep them (J5) for back ups, and I prefer the "ear bud" style headphone to the stock in your ear iPod headphone. All in all a decent ear bud, just not as good IMHO as the J3s. Link for the j3:

I recently purchased a new pair of these for around 50 dollars. Immediately I was pleased with the sound and comfort of these headphones, however, you may have to spend a little time fitting them on your head at first to keep them from hurting your ears. Although they are not terribly uncomfortable to wear for a few minutes, the size of the cups are a bit smaller than most professional headphones, and this makes them a bit uncomfortable for long-term listening as there is pressure on your ears.Despite the uncomfortable pressure that may occur on the ears, these headphones are actually very comfortable to wear. They sound so good that I want to turn up the volume just to enjoy them more. The sound is clear, the bass is strong and clean but won't drown out the mid-tones or treble. The treble itself is sometimes lacking, but most of the time it isn't a problem. The individual sounds are heard so well with these headphones that if there is any extra noise or flaw in what you are listening to, you'll notice it immediately.
